Lens Update – Sigma 18-35 F1.8

Sigma just announce their newest creation – the Sigma 18-35 F1.8.  What’s special about this lens is that it is the world first standard zoom lens that offer a fast aperture of 1.8 through out.  This is amazing and quite an innovation.  This lens supposedly give photographers the power of 3 prime lenses in one – the 18mm, 24mm and 35mm, of these the 35mm is a popular length for portraiture photography.  In theory this all sounds amazing, but can this lens really offer the same power and quality of the traditional prime lenses?  We will have wait and see.  I am excited for the release of the lens and can’t wait for test and reviews from the industry, I might want one for my Nikon D300s.  Can you imagine the conveniences this lens can offer to photographer in a wedding shoot?  It is too bad this lens only comes in crop format, so full frame user is out of luck at this time
